Your Journey with Fern Labour

Fern Labour is valuable because it focuses on the entire journey, not just the stopwatch. This guide walks you through the full lifecycle of using the app, from the moment you download it to the moment your baby arrives.

1. Getting Started

We know that sometimes you download an app while you are having a contraction. That's why we made onboarding as frictionless as possible.

1. Tell us about you: Start by entering your due date and whether this is your first baby, optionally add a Labour Circle name.
2. Continue: Register or sign in to enter the app.

That's it. You are ready to track.

2. Building your Team

If you have a bit more time, the best thing you can do is set up your Labour Circle. This allows your partner, doula, or family to see your progress in real-time without you handing over your phone.

3. The Main Event: Tracking

When the waves start coming, you just need to tap. Specifically, the big "Start Contraction" button.

We've designed the tracker to be used with your eyes closed. We'll handle the math (frequency and duration) and give you a simple slider to track intensity.

4. Keeping People Updated

As things progress, people will want to know what's happening. Instead of managing a WhatsApp group, use the Updates tab. You can post quiet status updates for those checking the app, or loud announcements (like "Heading to Hospital!") that send SMS alerts to your circle.

5. The Finish Line

When your baby arrives (congratulations!), there is one final step.

Go to the Manage Labour tab. You'll see a section called "Ready to complete your labour?".

Tap Complete Labour. You can add a closing note: a message to your circle, the time of birth, or just a simple "We did it."

When you confirm, the app switches to "Completed" mode. We'll stop all tracking alerts, notify your subscribers that the journey is complete, and save your labour history forever.
